REAL QUESTIONS · FAQ

Can a dinner jacket be velvet?.

Short answer

Yes. Velvet is one option for an evening jacket, but the cloth weight, pile and construction affect its formality and care. Ask the tailor to show the available cloth and confirm how the chosen fabric should be stored and cleaned.

When would you wear a velvet dinner jacket?+

Seasonal evening events: December galas, New Year dinners, ski-resort black tie. It is a statement piece — pair with plain trousers and let the texture speak.

Does velvet crush easily?+

Velvet pile can show pressure marks, and care differs by fibre and finish. Follow the cloth label and ask the maker for a care method for the exact fabric; avoid applying heat or steam without checking.
