Suit fabric types,
explained simply.

The fabric determines how the suit breathes, drapes, wrinkles and travels. Here’s the honest guide.

Short answer

Wool is the most versatile (four seasons, resists wrinkles). Linen is the coolest (but creases). Cotton is smart-casual (breathes, softer structure). Choose based on climate, occasion and how often you’ll wear it.

Wool — the four-season workhorse

Resists wrinkles, breathes naturally, drapes well and travels. Super 100s-150s for suits. The safest and most versatile choice.

Linen — the summer specialist

The coolest fibre, worn creases and all. Best for warm-climate weddings, summer events and holiday.

Cotton — the smart-casual option

Breathes, softer structure, more casual. Chinos, Oxford shirts, denim jackets. Less formal than wool.

Blends — the best of both

Wool-silk-linen for travel, wool-cashmere for winter. The atelier confirms per swatch.
